The Crimson Tide already has a few unique position names on defense, including the Bandit (strongside defensive end), Wolf (weakside edge rusher) and Husky (slot defensive back). Position designations on offense are more traditional. However, the Tideās receivers refer to themselves as ātakers.ā
Recently a new designation surfaced, as C.J. Dippre announced that the tight ends call themselves the sharks. The nickname has been going around for a while now. However, unlike other positional terms, it has more to do with the unitās actions off the field rather than on it.
āWeāve got a couple of guys that like to play some poker, so just kind of poker sharks,ā tight end Robbie Ouzts said. āBut at the same time, we kind of swim together is what we like to say. Itās kind of more of a mentality thing.ā
