Over the years.. Alot of less talented teams employing the spread concept, have resorted to simply playing half of games.. Either the first half, where they struggle to hold the second half lead.. Or the second half, where they give the illusion of making halftime adjustments and roaring back to win..
The first half philosophy doesn't work well against superior teams.. But the second half one gives you a better chance, because it creates momentum, doesn't allow for adjustments, most times cause the winning team to relax and lose focus..
This philosophy is employed mostly by OC's that script their play calls.. The second half philosophy call for offenses to just run simple plays.. Adlib, giving off the illusion to the other team that they are stuffing their game plan.. I.e playing possum..
Examples.. Second half..
Cam Newton\Auburn 2010
Ole Miss 2014
Ohio State 2014
Tennessee 2016
First half..
Texas A&M 2012
Auburn 2014
Texas A&M 2016 (with a off week to prepare.. gonna come out fast)
