Of the final 3 minutes. Waving people off indicating he wants to take it every time he got the ball. Clanking shot after shot off the rim until he finally airballed his final 2 layups. Defense has dropped off this year as well. Hes got better under CNO. But he's at the peak of his talent imo and ready for him to move on.

I will agree and disagree with you. It is on coaching for having Herb run the point down the stretch when he is just not a damn point guard. I realize JQ’s defense makes him a liability, but there was no defense to be played when we got the ball back with 25 seconds to go..

Roll Tide!!

This game is not on herb. It's on coaching. We had one guy to guard to win (Baseey) and we didn't do that.
poor finishing by Herb.. I disagree

and terrible defense on Bassey... basically he was setting a high pick and roll to the basket and despite its simplicity Bama couldn’t cover it or he was there for too many offensive rebounds

Oats was off his game too

Kinda harsh on Herb man. Is he a point? No. Does he make too many mistakes with the ball? Yes. But I think it’s pretty ridiculous to say he should be ashamed of himself. I’m mad after this game too but damn. We’d be a much worse team without him.

Stop making up shit; he never waved anyone off. It was a stagnant offense with little direction from the bench and being a senior and leader on the team he tried to make something happen. It didn't work out but you have a coach over there not saying a thing, not using his TO to set up a decent play.

3 of his last 4 drives. Isolation he called

Herb calls for isolation and missing 2 incredibly easy layups inside 1 minute and a 3rd was a terrible attempt. Herb is only as good he is, I get it. But when he drives which is consistently every time he touches the ball you can count on a missed layup or a turnover because be cant dribble. EVERY TIME.

Agreed cola. Bassey was a top 5 player in the country in hs and always proves why. He will be a long time nba player.

Who called? Herb? I didn't see him call anything, and I most certainly didn't notice a coaching title by his name on the roster.

Place the blame where it belongs, at the feet of a coach who had shown the ability to run his mouth but not a team so far this year.
im with you. i dont think herb should shoot more than 4 or 5 times a game and we go to him like he is jordan.

I think we get you claim to be a Bama hoops fan yet hate our Coach. Yet defend a decrepit "icon" who coaches a Nike aau team

I thought Oats comments about Coach K was not only out of line but also inaccurate given the fact he said the same thing before the season even started.

I also think Oats is the Gus Malzahn of CBB; he can only coach his style of play even if he doesn't have the players to run his style of play.

I don't claim to be an Alabama hoops fan, I am and has been since I can remember following sports and will continue to be long after Oats is replaced.

I was at the game piss poor coaching and worse execution. Herb is not a point guard and leave Primo in the game . Quit rotating guys every 2 minutes. If you are going to play 10 guys press every once in a while . They will get better but no one shoots well going out every 2 minutes.

Considering the fact that Herb is absolutely carrying this team and is the lone reason we’ve even been competitive thus far, I’d say he has nothing to be ashamed about.

While it was tough seeing him miss the easy layups, I will say there was more coaching there then you guys are giving Oats credit for. Herb would come down and call for a screen because they were switching on everything. And he was doing it with Primo to get that small guard on him. Who he can breeze by every time. It is a huge mismatch. The finishing at the rim was the part that didn't work. It is the same thing the Cavs did on the Kyrie 3 in game 7 against the Warriors to get Curry on him. I know you guys want to trash Oats but he isn't the reason Herb missed a wide open layup or Quinerly can't seem to even remotely figure it out, thus making Herb run point in crucial moments. Gotta give credit where it is due to Herb. He made the drive and kick to Rojas against Furman that was the game-winner then hit the runner in the lane to go up 5. He's had very high highs and some very low lows. Really hope this group can figure out how to play together soon. It is still very early. Don't give up quite yet.

What a difference a month and three days makes in a basketball season? 34 days ago Oats was a dumb ass and now he needs a contract extension. We may fall apart tomorrow, but I do know that we will win at least 7 conference games this year and that as of this past Tuesday, there was no team in the country playing better than Alabama.
