Jaden Shackelford News

I’m not sure I understand the the harsh criticism of Shack. The fact that he is not a strong NBA candidate does not diminish the contributions he made to our teams success last year nor alter what he could contribute this year. He hustled, surprisingly strong as a rebounder and lane driver. He wasn’t perfect but the team will miss him if he doesn’t return.

Not really. Him keeping his name in the draft and not returning to the team yet, said everything. He won't be drafted so that only meant one thing since he didn't let nate know he was returning.
He has until the 7th to remove his name from the draft and talk to CNO.

I with you on that, Shack was our leading scorer I think and gave great effort.
I wish him luck, but will hold out hope he returns.

I don't understand why people take it personal when a player does something they don't like. Shaq may be limited athletically but he played hard and was far from just a spot up shooter. Petty was another guy who in my opinion did he best. RTR to both of them.

Because he started in certain situations could be looked at as being a starter. He was not a playerer that started the nose games when you look at the top players on the team. Again his only real college level skill is his spotting up beyond the 3 point line. When Bama played man to man he was a liability. The NBA is a man against man type league. At the end of the day they can play zone but weak players get exploited because of their match ups in the zone.
This is an honest assessment of his abilities not a personal attack. It's fine to be a fan of your school. But I choose to evaluate players first and be a fan second.

What were the situations in which shack did not start?

Its not shocking that a great go to athlete like Shack might want to transfer to a UCLA or even a USC. He's a Californian. He'll want to sweeten his NBA stock next year with an 18-20 point scoring average. In Oates'system he led the best BAMA team in recent history with a 14 point average. Doubtful he could top that with the blue chip rotation competing for playing time and no doubt geting it. He's a major loss because he is an experienced SEC champion. I don't like the transfer portal, but it is part of the world we live in now.

His move is logical, not emtional in my opinion. Best of luck Shack!

Shack played his worst game of the year against UCLA...that game I’m sure did not improve his Stock among Pac 12 teams.

His team won the SEC, leading scorer, I think, and, yet, he wants to transfer ..

Those are all RED flags
And his dad is a locker room lawyer..

Any man whose individual business is with prep players and is heavily involved in that arena usually cares little about team stuff.

Oats don't take any shit. So if there was an ultimatum about playing time or wanting some kind of promise I can see why it was time to part ways. Shack was a hell of a player for us the last few years and appreciate all he did. To me Shack would have thrived with JD and JQ driving and drawing the defense in and kicking to him in the corner or on the wing knocking down threes. Maybe minutes and shots would be down some but he would be part of a damn good team. Basketball team is in great shape and we will move on and win with the guys who want to be here.
