Brock Purdy is an average NFL QB, now getting paid a boatload of money that has been surrounded by great talent at San Francisco. Mac Jones is now the backup QB for the 49er’s. I would submit to you that for the first time MAC Jones is playing backup on a team with talent and an OC.
I am going to say something most will think is crazy. Mac Jones will blossom into an NFL QB, if he ever gets the chance to play at SF. Being realistic, a head Coach and GM that are paying an average QB $250,000,000 over four years cannot afford for Brock Purdy to lose his starting job to Mac Jones. The only way Mac will ever start at SF would be an injury to Purdy. In a legitimate fair competition, MAC could beat Purdy out. The Coach and GM would be fired if MAC starts in front of Purdy, which is why MAC does not start.
