TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Former Alabama defensive back Marlon Humphrey was arrested Thursday in Tuscaloosa. Humphrey was charged with third-degree robbery which is a Class C felony in Alabama.

Humphrey was arrested by campus police. According to the police report, he allegedly stole a phone charger valued at $15. The incident occurred at 3:19 a.m. CT on Jan. 13 at Hotel Capstone on Paul W. Bryant Drive.

While the initial booking from the Tuscaloosa Sheriff's Office had Humphrey charged with a felony third-degree robbery, the incident report lists it as fourth-degree theft — a misdemeanor offense. Humphrey was released from jail after posting a $2,500 bond.

The state of Alabama defines a Class C felony as: (1) Uses force against the person of the owner or any person present with intent to overcome his physical resistance or physical power of resistance; or (2) Threatens the imminent use of force against the person of the owner or any person present with intent to compel acquiescence to the taking of or escaping with the property.

Humphrey was selected by the Baltimore Ravens with the No. 16 overall pick in last year’s NFL draft. He recently completed his rookie season with the Ravens, tallying 34 tackles and two interceptions.
