We will playing with talent instead if depending on experience. Oats will have a full lineup of his guys and we will be back in the sweet 16
Have we ever beaten UCLA in basketball? I was thinking about that earlier...all I can remember are losses against them.I gotta say I really enjoyed this season. Bitter loss to UCLA. Bama never played their game. Lost it with sloppy turnovers and missed free throws.
But I am excited for the future with Nate Oats as coach. Sweet 16 in his 2nd year at a school that has not had a good basketball team in about 15 years.
This team had it in them to go further but did not step up and do it.
Roll Tide anyway. 26 and 7 is one of our better years ever. SEC regular season and tournament champions. Sweet Sixteen. I’ll take it this year.

Ahh - so Wimp beat ‘em? I was wondering if he’d ever coached against UCLA. Thanks for the info!!Couple times. Once the night after Coach Bryant had died that morning.
UCLA was #1 riding the longest home winning streak too when we won in LA. Also, we beat them in Coleman not long ago. '12-'13 I think? I was there.Ahh - so Wimp beat ‘em? I was wondering if he’d ever coached against UCLA. Thanks for the info!!
Took the words right out of my mouthCouple times. Once the night after Coach Bryant had died that morning.
I see it the same. For all the great things Herb and Petty did, we know we'll cut off about 5-7 turnovers a night on out of control, sloppy handle drives. We'll have two awesome point guards not a point forward, God love Herb. JD was made in a lab to run this offense. He's dominant on D as far as blocking tons of shots along with getting a ton of steals. His rim attacking style will flourish and the assists will be there too bc our offense will be better all around. Langston Wilson IMO is a huge get. Totally different than our outgoing, unathletic bigs. Alex T is gonna ball. Our frontcourt looks good and hopefully we land Bediako. Backcourt of JQ and JD? Primo is awesome. Ellis will assert himself more I believe and he's pretty awesome. We got a lot of dudes. We got a big old taste this year. Those on here criticizing Oats after tonight are so myopic and ungrateful. Completely ridiculous. We will playing with talent instead if depending on experience. Oats will have a full lineup of his guys and we will be back in the sweet 16
Addition by subtraction if you know what I meanAs long as we only lose our seniors we will be loaded!
I wish everyone felt this way. Should we have won this game? Yes. Are we better than UCLA? Yes. But people complaining about Oats tonight and dogging him have no idea what they’re talking about. This season is similar to Saban going 12-2 in 2098. Changed the culture of the program but still had players that don’t fit his system. Next year’s roster won’t have any players who don’t fit Oats’ system.I see it the same. Exactly. 11-25 on free throws gets you beat in the Sweet 16...it’s a miracle we even made it to OT shooting ft’s like that. And I haven’t looked at the stats, but I can’t imagine Herb has had many worse games than he had tonight. He killed us.I wish everyone felt this way. Should we have won this game? Yes. you can’t miss 14 free throws and expect to win in the tournament. It’s that simple
Who says he’s going to rely on it? I highly doubt that’s his plan. Jesus.....That’s what it’ll have to be. Oates did a great job inspiring them to out hustle opponents and come from behind many times, but situational coaching needs to improve along with talent. You can’t keep relying on pissing away the first half of the game and making huge clutch runs down the stretch. We were able to against UT, and LSU and were also able to get away with bad first halves against Iona and Maryland, but you’ll never get through an NCAA tournament relying on it.
I cant take these stupid takes anymore by Bama fans. Like I said before we've got the lowest basketball IQ fans in the country. If you don't know basketball and only watch and post when the team is doing good please keep these ignorant post to yourself, geez!!We will playing with talent instead if depending on experience. This is the model I remember mentioning last year on how I thought Alabama can be competitive. They can get one of those one-and-done players here and there, see JD Davison coming in, but the majority of their recruits needs to be players that are around of 3-4 years.I just hope we don’t go after the one and done guys. Duke and Kentucky each had a great year with the one and done model, but it seems like teams with veterans have fared better in the last 10 years than ones with young star power. Chemistry and experience can be huge difference makers
Twice- 1982 at UCLA when they were ranked number 1 and a couple of years ago in Tuscaloosa.Have we ever beaten UCLA in basketball? I was thinking about that earlier...all I can remember are losses against them.
beat in coleman in 2014 i think. grant was our coach.Ahh - so Wimp beat ‘em? I was wondering if he’d ever coached against UCLA. Thanks for the info!!
Shack must have had 4 or five turnovers, two on consecutive trips.I see it the same. We will also have experienced talented players is what im saying. JQ, Shaq, Gary, Ellis, Primo....all experience players which at least 2 to 3 of these guys will be in the lineup at any given time.Experience means more than you’re thinking. These teams left in the tournament have experience.
Dang good memory my man🤓Couple times. Once the night after Coach Bryant had died that morning.
We actually beat em a few years agoHave we ever beaten UCLA in basketball? I was thinking about that earlier...all I can remember are losses against them.
