Greg Byrne foreshadowed decisions Alabama might need to make to cut sports if developments in college athletics continue in the current direction.

AD Byrne and CNS testified before congress on pending legislation regarding finances in college athletics. For those in favor of significant payments (in addition to the $93K annually spent on athletes) to football players, if this occurs most of the 19 other sports at U of A would go away. Alabama looses $40 mil. per year on these other athletic programs, and it’s paid by football + some basketball revenues.
I think that if some restrictions, in the form of legislation aren’t put in place, that college sports as we know it might crash and burn.
