For the last few years and last night we saw, again, that outside of the CFP and a few minor bowls between non power five conference teams that most teams do not really want to play in bowl games. Bowl games have become nothing but extended practice time and exhibitions for the next year of each schools team. The seniors and star players that think they might be going to the NFL, often take a walk on the games. The fans are no longer interested in making the trip to the game, except for the parents and a few hard core fans.

There are certain trips that encourage fans to use the game as an excuse to go to the bowl game, but in reality the bowls games are merely made for TV programing that compete against the wife watching another Hallmark Movie.

A lot of players do not want to play in these meaningless games and the games often reflect this fact. I may be the only one, but after a summer of grueling workouts, a month of practices (sometimes two-a-days) and three and 1/2 months of football, who can blame players for not really wanting to be at a bowl game, away from family, and just not having a chance to be a young adult.

It is time to start considering doing away with bowl games.
