*** TEXAS AM GAME THREAD****

I hope that I'm wrong, but I could easily see this team lose to LSU on Saturday and then get bounced from both the SEC tournament and NCAA tournament in the first game. One and done!
That's exactly what I'm expecting to happen. I don't see any way that we beat LSU in red stick. We barely beat them at home early in the season when Days and Pinson were out. That would potentially drop our seeding in the conference tournament and give us a tougher first round opponent. Drop that game and I think we'll end up a 7 seed in March Madness, which would match us up against a 10.

Games like this show how soft this team really is. A worse loss than UGA considering it was at home and 2 guys punked us all second half long. Buzz got on the officials before the tip and got a tech call early. His team got a lot of breaks after that on some really physical play. Didn't matter though. We were too busy throwing passes into the first row and forgetting there's an out of bounds line around the court.

Oats has yet to beat a Buzz coached team. Last seasons game was covid canceled and they punked us in T-Town two years ago. His game is kryptonite to what Oats does. They over play all the passing lanes, trap at spots on the floor where we tend to get our offense moving, and we will try a circus jump to make some crazy pass without actually seeing where we're passing it. Probably should have seen this one coming. With our luck they'll be our Thu opponent and we'll limp into the tournament as an 8 seed on a 3 game losing streak.

We basically let two players beat us. 2 on 5 and we bent over backwards to assist those 2 for the last 20 minutes of the game. We were playing so bad it might as well have been Houston out there wearing aggie maroon as good as we made them look. You could tell in the first half that this was going to be one of those stinkers unless someone got unconscious shooting 3s.

How many times can you go into the paint wild and out of control and look to pass after you're either off the ground or far enough leaned up that you can only hand it to the other team?

I guess we hope this was the last wakeup call and they stay awake from now on. Otherwise we may lose 3 in a row before selection Sunday.
Buzz is a much better coach than Oats. That's why I expected to lose last night. What I didn't expect was to give up 87 points to one of the worst offensive teams in the conference. Their 87 points was the second most they have scored in a game this season. Only Georgia allowed them to score more. The 16 point victory margin was their largest in conference play this season. They had scored less than 70 points in 10 conference games, yet went for 50 in the second half against us.

I can’t watch and after checking the score.. I’m happy I can’t .

what a sh1t show!
It was definitely a night where I was glad that softball was playing at the same time. I would check in on the basketball game between innings , but when I did I didn't watch for long. There was no reason to put myself through that misery.

I streamed the softball game on my laptop and watched the bb game on tv. I was cheering one minute (softball) and cussing the next (bb)! :D👈👉🤬

I'm beginning to wonder if it's not effort, rather defensive fundamentals. We are absolutely awful at staying in front of the ball. Want to know why? We body guys up instead of staying arms length away from them to keep them in front. A blow-by is much more likely to happen the closer you are to the ball handler. We honestly play about as reckless on defense as we do on offense. We get in way too many situations where we have to over-help because someone couldn't contain the ball.

I understand wanting to pressure the ball, but there are smarter ways to go about it.

In fairness you have expected us to lose each of our last 12 games

Buzz will prove how much better he is than Oats in the NIT this year
