That's true, but what is the likelihood that one team has this many misses? Like I said earlier ITT, if we are still talking about how the players Oats recruited aren't as good as their rankings next season, it's not the players...
And like I said earlier. If we’re looking at a 7 seed or better for the third straight year that would mean Oats has accomplished something not done at Alabama since Wimp
What I get from this is that most Alabama fans are ok with Alabama basketball just not being terrible. As long as you are not terrible then all is good.
But if Alabama is going to pay you like an elite coach, I expect that you to be better than just not terrible. 3.225 million a year place him in the top 20 in CBB. There is no reason making the NCAA Tournament should be the baseline for every Alabama basketball team.
He’s already had a ton of success in three years. Nobody said making it is the baseline, but you don’t go from making it twice in 10 years to final four in 3 years. Takes time and this has been a great start towards that.
I want the down years to be something like this year… if this is our bad years then good. You gotta mix in some great years too and I want to see a final 4 and even a national championship but I do not expect to see that every single season. I’m happy that I’m pissed off at a team that’s playing next weekend.
I want Alabama to go to the final 4 every year. I would give up plenty of football success to have a final 4 run. I’d give a testicle for a national championship. But what you’re saying here wouldn’t apply to hardly any program. Duke didn’t make the tournament last year. They didn’t make the tournament the first 6 seasons of K’s tenure. Kentucky has missed multiple times under Cal and got bounced in the first round of the NIT one year. I think we just need some common sense here man… complete irrelevance for 30 years and we have a coach who has brought us out of irrelevance. And some of you keep saying “if this happens again next year…” do you realize by this happening again you mean doing something that hasn’t been done since the early 90’s?
I know a lot of people are down on Oats but I went back and watched his Buffalo teams play. Those teams looked polished and in sync with each other. I know that buffalo doesn't compare to any team in the SEC as far as talent but if he can make a less talented team look good then I don't see any reason why he can't do it at Bama. Also with a higher talent level you get bigger egos. And sometimes egos get in the way listening to the coach. Before tossing coach Oats aside I will give him more time to prove himself. Plus this season isn't a total wash yet. 4 years ago if you would have told me we were going to go to the tournament two years in a row with a SEC tournament and regular season win. I would have been over the moon excited and wouldn't have given a care how it happened. This season has been ugly but there are thing we can be happy about if we stop constantly looking for the bad. Roll Tide!!!!

It was just an ingredient/chemistry mismatch this season. It happens.
