Rumor on JQ's Departure

l heard this morning that he was upset about the young man from NDSU NIL deal. l believe this is true. Damn l hated to lose JQ. IMO he is our only true PG. Sears and Estrada are both better as 2 Guards.

By the way this makes me bat .500. l said way back when the younger JQ left that l did not expect JQ to play for Bama this year. Looks like that had nothing to do with it, but l was correct. l also said at the time that l expected Bediako to be back. Well at least now l'm not batting.000, but l wish l was.

Big loss IMO.

Three things to know about Trey Amos

Alabama football has brought in several new additions this summer. Today, we will be highlighting one of the new cornerback recruits from Louisiana, Trey Amos. Here’s three things to know about the new recruit.

Tony's takes: Projecting Alabama's offensive depth chart post spring camp

Camp has concluded, and the spring transfer window has slammed shut. While Alabama might still have a few more roster tweaks over the summer, it’s now a bit easier to project how the Crimson Tide will line up in the fall.

With that said, here is my post-spring depth chart based on information from spring camp as well as recent comings and goings in the transfer portal. Today I’ll start off on the offensive side of the ball, where first-year coordinator Tommy Rees should have all the pieces he needs once he can find the right man behind center.

NIL destroying the game

Assuming that there is no more turnover for Tide Basketball, it is safe to assume that we will only have three players back from the SEC Title team. In spite of that fact, Alabama has five incoming Freshmen and at least three portal transfers for next season. We lost three probable starters to the Transfer portal and one to the NBA draft that probably made an ill advised decision to leave. While the three portal transfers, to date, will probably ease the pain, we will definitely not be as good as last year at four positions.

There is probably no question that the Transfer Portal and NIL cost Alabama starters at three positions. I have absolutely no idea how coaches recruit in the future, with NIL and the transfer portal, as when you are recruiting in the summer, you have absolutely no idea what you will need to replace in April. All I can say is get use to the situation, as some University is going to be recruiting the best players on your team every spring. The other Universities will be coming with bags of money and enticements for your best players.

I definitely do not blame the players at the present time. "G" League does not pay as much as Arkansas. If you go after someone else's players with money, you present talent is going to be pissed. If you don't adequately compensate your present talent, you are going to lose the talent. I think it is safe to say that in the future you will have to pay a talented player, at least $100k a year, the first year, or you will never get the player.

After breaking down the offense Monday, today I’ll take a look at the defensive side of the ball where coordinator Kevin Steele takes over a unit full of rising stars.
