Thoughts on Alabama’s 78-67 Win Over #21 Miss St

Early on you could see why this Mississippi State team was a top 10 defensive team nationally. They made everything tough for Alabama and played very physical. Remind you of a specific game? It reminded me of the Houston game. That game it took Alabama a while to get going offensively, but ultimately took over.

Alabama was leading 13-10 with 9 minutes left in the first half and ultimately went into halftime up 34-30. After that, Alabama started to pull away leading by as many as 17 in the second half to roll to a double digit Quad 1 win on the road.

Mark Sears led the team with 20 points and put an exclamation point with a 35 footer with a minute to go. Brandon Miller with another double double scoring 19 points and 11 boards. It was great welcoming Dom Welch to fold and he showed how good he can be defensively. The guy who showed up when needed was Nick Pringle scoring 10 points in 20 minutes of play. He did a great job on Tolu Smith and can match most any player physically in the paint.

Overall it was a great win for Alabama. That arena was very hostile and was ultimately silenced early in the second half and they never got a chance to get back into it.

Rewatching Sugar: Things You Noticed

always interesting to re-watch so thread here for things you noticed.

For me, Will Anderson was the cover man who fell down on that 4th and 2 where we got very lucky the QB missed an open man. They get that, could have been a very different game. As Bear used to say, almost any game is determined by really 4-5 plays.

Anderson had a bad stat line. No tackles, no hurry credits (but he seemed to only be in for passing downs most of game), and if that pass had been completed, he may have become the scapegoat for the game. OLB got to cover backs and TE more in NFL and that was quite pathetic on a critical play. Still remember his all-time bonehead play hitting a down player against Texas then claimed he didn't know the rules that the player was legally down. Suspect his Wonderlic is going to suck but not in a position where it matters that much to career success.

Alabama players announcing draft decisions today

I've been told only Bryce Young, Will Anderson and Jahmyr Gibbs will announce their intentions to enter the NFL Draft today. That doesn't mean that players like Brian Branch and Eli Ricks won't declare later though. They have until Jan. 16.

Here's the story from Monday's announcement:

Portal

Sorry if this has been discussed here already as I typically stay on TMB but is there anyone we may get via portal? Seems like we cherry picked past couple of years and made out like bandits. Hope we can steal a player or two this year as well. This team would have been up the creek w/out a paddle without Gibbs.

Oats on Brandon Miller: 'He’s gonna be really good next year in the NBA'

There was no question that Brandon Miller was going to be special, but every so often, the true freshman finds another way to steal the spotlight.

we have had some good

bama teams in the past. 1976, 1983, 1987, the early 90`s and the elight 8 run. if we ever get fully healthy i think this is our best team ever. its looking like miller and clowney will be 1 and done and bradley and burnett will not be far behind unless they get an outrageous nil deal. i hope recruits are watching how bama plays. confidence is at an all-time high for bama basketball. roll tide
