How does OSU dip into Florida for the best couple of receivers every year?

Florida always produces some of the best receivers in the country and OSU is signing their top receivers every year now. What attracts those guys to OSU rather than any of the numerous top schools in the South, particularly Bama 😝? Just random musings as many of our most talented receivers of the recent past came from Florida.

John calipari ?

What is the draw to play for him? He's won 1 championship. Most of the players he gets would be drafted regardless of where they went. I'm not saying coach Cal isn't a good coach but I just do not see the draw anymore. I know a lot has to do with kentucky just being a blue blood basketball school so I know that's a draw in its self. He's had a ton of talent come through kentucky to only win 1 championship.

Welcome to Tide Illustrated

Welcome and thank you for having us as your new site staff. I am Kelly Quinlan, and I am the new publisher of Tide Illustrated and I am very excited about this opportunity and thankful to Rivals and our leadership for giving me the opportunity and chance to put this wonderful staff together as well.

I want to thank those who came before me as I have known both Kyle and Andrew for over a decade each. I consider both friends and there is no bad blood or anything like that. I’ve been in this business for almost 20 years myself and people often end up working together eventually again.

Now on to what you care about.

Here is our staff and each staff member's role.

Kelly Quinlan- Publisher- I deal with the day-to-day business side of the site, and manage the content and message boards as well as any issues subscribers have. I also backfill on recruiting and will help with podcasting, vlogging, and national recruiting coverage specific to the site.

Tony Tsoukalas- Managing Editor/Team Beat Writer- Tony is in charge of the day-to-day team coverage for football and men’s basketball plus anything else that may come up for coverage like a College World Series run in baseball or anything like that. Tony is a very talented storyteller, and he was my first call when I got the site as someone that would both be familiar but I felt needed more bandwidth to write great stories. Tony is based locally.

Russell Johnson- Recruiting Editor- Russell has been my #2 guy and someone I hand trained from the start. He has covered SEC and ACC recruiting for many years now and he is one of the most plugged-in guys when it comes to recruiting in the Southeast. His role will also be helping our main recruiting writer with chasing down scoop and handling some of the national recruiting targets who are not regional. Russell like myself is based in Atlanta.

Brandon Howard- Recruiting Writer- Brandon is a very talented young writer we were fortunate to lure away from 247 and he loves to see kids, evaluate them and tell their stories. He has a very bright future and one thing that will be a little different from other sites is the amount of time we spend on the road and Brandon will be a road dog hitting up schools all over. He is coming over from Texas where he has developed deep relationships and we’ve had him out on the road for several weeks leading up to the launch seeing kids. He will be based in Birmingham.

James Benedetto- Utility Man/Staff Writer- James will help Tony with team coverage and he will help Brandon and Russell with recruiting coverage. He is a very talented young writer and an Alabama grad who has experience on the beat and experience covering preps. His job will also involve covering kids once they’ve committed to Alabama and telling the deeper stories of those young men that often get ignored in the modern new cycle as well as contributing to features for team coverage and game coverage. James will also be local.

Jordan Harper- Head Basketball Analyst- Jordan or Harper41 as you all knew him will be dealing with basketball recruiting and helping with team coverage and scoop with men’s basketball. Alabama has a top-tier basketball program and we are going to cover it. I am a big believer in covering the basketball program. Jordan is based in Florence.

My passion has been building sites and helping make them into industry leaders. I am someone who invests heavily in the product, and I don’t drive a fancy car or anything like that. I believe in reinvesting in this site or my other main role as the publisher of Jacketsonline the Georgia Tech site. I started that site with a dead message board and built it into the largest media outlet covering the Jackets. I began my career with Rivals on the UGA site back in 2006 as a snot-nosed kid who knew nothing about message boards and I tripped and learned a lot of tough lessons over the years. No one will work harder than we will to bring you a great product so feel free to reach out to me or anyone on the staff. I am a big believer that you all are what makes sites like this one great and our job is to bring you interesting content.

The one thing I do ask is you give us a chance to prove ourselves and what we can do. This has been the one site I have wanted to get a shot at running since I joined Rivals and I believe you will enjoy our content and our plan. This is a team not about me or anyone else either. You all are part of our team as well.

Thank you,

Kelly Quinlan

Angry Chuck needs to show up on defense

Bedikio has been very good this year, but has had problems a couple of times with quality big men. He will need to do a good job today on Tshiebwe. Charles is gonna need to stay out of foul trouble. Don't want to see Gurley matched up on Tshiebwe for long periods of time today. lf Charles gets in foul trouble Pringle might be our next best option.

Big game today fellas and Roll Tide.

Alabama basketball 'rattles' Kentucky in blowout win

From "NIT" to "Cal to Texas" chants, the hostile environment at Coleman Coliseum played a factor in Alabama's blowout win against Kentucky on Saturday.

Just asking but...

How is Houston number 2 and ranked so much higher than us when we beat them at their house. They do have an incredible home court advantage with their crowd.
Can't be because of our schedule and even with 2 loses who have they played that is so great? I know it's way way to early and all of that but just wondering.
This team could be very very special.
