Football 🏈 Everything Nick Saban during his Wednesday press conference

Alabama head coach Nick Saban met with the media for the final time this week as the team prepares for a road trip to Oxford.

— Nick Saban: "With Veterans Day coming up this week, I'd just like to take the opportunity to thank all the veterans that have served our country."

— Saban: "You hope when guys practice well that they will play better in the game. But there's so many things that happen in the game that you have to be able to maintain your individual momentum. ... When an 'oh shit' momentum happens, you've gotta be able to play the next play."

— Saban on Jaxson Dart: "He looks to me like he must be a very bright guy because he does a great job of executing the offense."

— Saban on the transfer portal: "I think it creates a lot of parity relative to how fast you can rebuild a team." Ole Miss brought in 16 players from the transfer portal this offseason.

— Saban on Will Reichard: "I absolutely love the guy as a specialist. ... He's just phenomenal." Reichard became the all-time points leader in program history against LSU.

Football 🏈 'We knew what we signed up for': Players grapple with program expectations

On Tuesday, DeMarcco Hellams spoke candidly about living up to Alabama's expectations.

"We knew what we signed up for when we came to Alabama," Hellams said. "... We welcomed the pressure. We welcomed the standard."

SEC Teleconference (Ole Miss week)

Nick Saban

— Saban: "We haven't been in this position for a while, but at the same time, we've got a lot of pride in what we do and want everybody to do it really well."

— Saban: "When we haven't played well on defense, we've had too many missed tackles and too many mental errors."

— Saban on Ole Miss freshman RB Quinshon Judkins, who is a Pike Road, Ala., native: "We looked at him coming out last year. In hindsight, it'd be great if he was on our team."

— Saban on living up to the Alabama standard: "We work every day to try to play to a standard and we've had a lot of good teams around here for a long time. We lost two games by a total of four points, both on the last play of the game. Are there a lot of things we could do better? Are we satisfied with where we are as a team? Absolutely not."

— Saban continued: "Sometimes when the standard is so high, there may be some occasions where you don’t quite meet the standard and the expectation that everybody has for you. I do think that standard and expectation has not been something that has helped this team focus on the right things. Stay focused on the process, not get so concerned about the results you get, but what you’ve got to do to get the results. That’s something we’ve been trying to emphasize with them.”

Lane Kiffin

— Lane Kiffin says Bryce Young can put a "Superman cape on" and "take some games over."
— Lane Kiffin believes Ole Miss will be tested on Saturday noting Alabama has "great receivers" and a "great running back."

— Lane Kiffin: "It's ridiculous" to say Alabama's dynasty is over. But I understand that's just what you need to do in the media to have something to talk about. ... No one is going to listen if you say the dynasty is still going.

Failure of Coaching

CNS the Goat? Yes. Do supremely talented people fail in their job daily? Yes. I have 32 years of experience in my job. Do I fail in spite of best efforts? Yes.

The question is NOT whether this is a poorly coached team. It is readily apparent. Players lost 30-40% of time on D. And, it is total BS that we do not have a single receiver that can get open with the talent signed. And, total BS that we can't run the ball reasonably well with Olineman stacked up like cordwood.

CNS has said all year that he likes this team - no bad apples. When applicable, he has said that his team is not properly locked in. So, he isn't blaming them, when he has before. This isn't a player issue. IT isn't NIL. It isn't the NFL. It is a staff issue.

2022 lies at the feet of the man. His admirable loyalty with coaches, 1 in particular, is getting his ass beat. Would you have confidence in CPG if you played for him? Why do we expect players to do so, and confidence is critical. Watch UGA Saturday? That is confidence. Wonder why we weren't chanting coming out of the tunnel in UT? Because we were scared they were going to do exactly what they did. Why did we play nervous? I wonder................. Why are we average at best on the road? It is not complicated. The players have 0 confidence - they do not believe - period. That is whey there ain't no alphas. Jack somebody's ass up only to have CPG hang him out to dry on the next play.... I have reason to believe that while they like CPG ALOT, they are tired of playing for him. He ran the exact defense on Sat. night that would allow the only player on LSU's team to beat them in the only way he could - with his legs. We walk up and blitz 85% of the time. C'mon man.

Will CNS fix it? I believe he will because he is the smartest, best to ever do it. Or, will his stubbornness get in the way?

"Make his a$$ quit"

has been replaced by "well, they have anxiety".

That, in a nutshell, is what's wrong. We've went from "dominate the guy across from you" to "what do you want to attach yourself to?" Developing mental and physical toughness has been supplanted by "how do you want to add value to yourself?"

I love coach and appreciate all that he's done, but he's got to get back to the basics of developing mentally tough monsters and back off of the psycho-babble.

Football 🏈 Nick Saban gives his thoughts on Alabama's offense, Bill O'Brien

On Monday Nick Saban gave an assessment of Alabama's offense and Bill O'Brien following the team's fourth game where it scored 31 points or less.

Bama could easily have 4 losses. OC and DC changes needed.

Players out of position on defense. Penalties. It's like they are playing with one hand tied behind their backs. Missed tackles. No passion it seems.

Offense,,,no excuse for having 4 drives in a row with literally more penalties than yards. Receivers not open. No schemes to get them open. Yet other teams have no problem getting open guys.

They will never win again with Obrien and Pete. Worst coordinators since the 2007 season.

NO EXCUSE for having 4 and 5 star players available and performing like they do consistently. The only reason they are winning period is because of talent.

Just frustrating. Flame all you want.
