TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama moved indoors to escape the rain Thursday for its fifth practice of spring camp. Players were dress in full pads inside of Hank Crisp Indoor Facility for the workout. Here are some notes from the media viewing period.
— Tua Tagovailoa worked off to the side of the with head trainer Jeff Allen in between reps during individual drills. He stepped in during his turn on handoff drills but then returned to work with Allen away from the rest of the quarterbacks. Following handoffs, Tagovailoa participated in a few running drills.
— After throwing earlier in the week, Tagovailoa took a knee during passing drills on Thursday. Jalen Hurts and Mac Jones worked side by side with the first team.
— VanDarius Cowan was back with the inside linebackers after missing the past two practices.
— Alabama’s first-unit secondary worked out of the nickel package. Saivion Smith and Trevon Diggs were the two corners, while Shyheim Carter played Star. Deionte Thompson and Xavier McKinney were the two safeties.
— The second unit worked out of the dime package. Nigel Knott was at one cornerback position, while a walk-on wearing No. 35 was at the other spot across the field. Kyriq McDonald was at Star, while Daniel Wright played at Money. Slade Bolden and Jared Mayden were the two safeties.
— Alabama’s defensive line worked in groups of two. Raekwon Davis and Isaiah Buggs were in the first group followed by, Johnny Dwight and Quinnen Williams and LaBryan Ray and Phidarian Mathis. Stephon Wynn Jr. was in the fourth group.
— Alabama’s offensive line worked in groups of four. Ross Pierschbacher was at center with Lester Cotton and Jedrick Wills to his right and Jonah Williams to his left.
— Damien Harris led the running backs during handoff drills. He was followed by Najee Harris, Brian Robinson and Ronnie Clark. All the running backs have looked solid this spring.
— JK Scott was in the weight room before practice.
