Theres literally no talent on the floor outside of JQ, Ellis, and the occasional bediako. You want a guy on the hot seat bringing in his best recruiting class this year, and will have won the reg season, sec tourney, a sweet 16 and back to back tournament appearances? hilarious. EMOTIONAL
Yes I watched. His last 3 was a handoff, which he made more than one off of. The guard ran into the screen, the big stayed back and he shot a wide open 3. And that happened more than once.
Maybe if he had a coach who knew how to coach anything other than his “system” of throwing up a shit ton of 3s, he might have faired better.

Yeah, he coached them to 4th in the country then coached them down to a tie for 7th in SEC topped off by embarrassing first round loss to freaking Notre Dame. Oh, he did recruit these stupid players as you refer and yes you can fix stupid. You think Barnes, musselman or Pearl hasn’t fixed stupid on their teams? BBet you thought Marone was a great OL coach in FB. I’ve read a lot of irrational comments on this board over the years and made my share as well, but none I can remember tops your post defending Oats.
BE did not recruit? Don't know what that means. Next years team will be great. highest recruiting class for us in history. Add burnett. Let bediako get stronger. He developed herb and jp like crazy over last 2 years. It was awesome.
On a side note....how is it possible that Keon Ambrose-Hylton isn't a better option than a hobbled Rojas?
As a prep he was a consensus 4 star big with emerging guard skills....what the heck happened to his development?

This team on paper was much more talented than Notre Dame and Rutgers, who would've have beaten us too.

This team’s slide very disheartening in every respect. Earlier in season I thought Oats was bootstrapping this program up despite lack of any material investment by UA in 30 years. Just wishful thinking by this Bama fan. I hope Oats makes it happen somehow, but this team looked very poorly coached, but I also believe the talent is way over rated. Tide basketball was excellent between about 1970 and 1992, though second to Kentucky, but still a good looking team. So, the Tide has succeeded for a long stretch in the past, and I was there for it. But that makes every year since hard to watch and this team played like 5th graders. On to spring practice.
I literally asked that during todays game. If he couldn’t guard 20 better than Rojas then he should have been gone a long time ago.

I’m not a JD fan but Herb was weak as water his freshman year.
Herb had a better high school coaching though.

Herb literally was terrible on offense his freshman year. I totally agree on the coaching thing. But herb truly was terrible. Just good on d that year
Hamm...what I am trying to say is I don't all of a sudden expect Bama to be a 2 seed and make the Sweet 16 each year. Way too hard in college basketball to be super consistent from year to year, especially for a program like Bama. But you have to agree this team was not well coached no matter the level of talent and lost a lot of games it should have easily won. I still cannot believe we gave UGA its only SEC win of the season and had Vandy down by 15 pts in the second half and ended up losing.
I don't think hes the best in the world. I just don't think theres anyone else you should want for alabama. Hes bringing in the best hs class in team history. Back to back tourneys, just won both tourney and reg season. Scoring has been better for back to back years. And thats with very limited and injured talent.
All I know is hes bringing in the best recruiting class in history and has had back to back tournament appearances as high seeds, taking one to the sweet 16. Also bringing in 2 of the biggest wins in team history during the regular season in over a decade. I think the trajectory is insane
Had some outstanding quality wins and some head scratching loses. This team didn’t seem mentally or physically tough. Also seemed to be missing an alpha to get in peoples sh$t and hold them accountable. Oats offensive system feeds off the 3…when you have zero shooters, then your only 1 dimensional and at this level, easy to defend. Flame away…
You said no other coach has a winning record with this team. That’s your mindset, he’s the best.
You can go back and look. I’d bet money I was the very first person on this board to say lock Oats up. I believe he can win. But what I don’t like, and won’t work over a period of time is that he will not adjust. He’s only going to play offense one certain way and defense one certain way. This team could not play his style consistently. All I’m asking is to try to make adjustments to fit what they can do.
Oats said JQ was the only player that showed up for voluntary shoot around last night… say what you want about having VOLUNTARY shoot around but…. I think it pretty much triple confirms all of my thoughts about the mentality of this team
Last year was a period of time? the only difference was he develop high level iqs over years with that team. I don't want to make adjustments per the team. That does them absolutely no favors in his system next year when we have the highest recruiting class in team history that will fit his system as well as burnett and a developed bediako. You can make small adjustments, BUT DO NOT OVERHAUL YOUR SYSTEM. I'm glad he didnt.

Nobody is asking him to overhaul his system. Adjustments with this team doesn’t mean anything for next years team. You’re just making excuses for him. You literally work for the guy don’t you?
Well now GoHamm, I’ve heard us southerners labeled in FB but now basketball? I didn’t know Geography defined knowledge in sports or anything else in life. Surely, you are not putting Oats at same level of success as Barnes or Pearl (who I dislike immensely and not just because he’s an Aubie). And you should be careful not to call out posters knowledge of the game without reading their resumes. I’ll put my 43-year basketball career and experience at all levels except NBA against your basketball resume and feel confident I’ve earned the right to both positive and negatively evaluate coaches. I never coached with emotion nor are my posts made with emotion. I can’t fix stupid posts so will just refer you to the great Forrest Gump with your original post and rebuttal. “Stupid is as stupid does”.
