After an eventful weekend, Alabama was back on the practice fields Monday afternoon, and I'm sure that came as a relief to the coaching staff. Here is what I witnessed during the viewing period.
Senior safety Geno Smith was not at practice. Smith was arrested for DUI early Saturday morning (his second DUI in his time at Alabama). The safeties went through drills in the following order: Hootie Jones, Jabriel Washington, Jonathan Cook and Ronnie Harrison.
Also Cam Sims was not at practice. He sustained an injury at the previous practice, but Alabama hasn't not given an update on his prognosis. In an interesting move, back-up quarterback Cooper Bateman took some reps at wide receiver. Kenyan Drake also ran reps with the wide receivers during his second period.
Alabama president Judy Bonner was at practice, the first time I can recall an Alabama president at practice.
Nick Saban and a couple of select players meet with reporters tonight.
