TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama moved indoors Tuesday to escape rainy weather as players participated in their second practice in preparation for Saturday’s game against Tennessee. Players were dressed in full pads for the workout. Here are a few notes from the media viewing session.

— Jaylen Waddle is wearing a sleeve on his left elbow which he hurt last week against Texas A&M. The sophomore said his elbow went numb during the game but that “it’s all good.” He was not limited during drills Tuesday.

— DeVonta Smith was participating in positional drills with the receivers but did not catch passes from the quarterbacks. Smith will be suspended for the first half against Tennessee after he was ejected in the fourth quarter last week for throwing a punch.

— Chris Owens (knee) was participating in drills for a second straight day after missing last week’s game. He was working at center with the second unit while Landon Dickerson took first-team reps. Darrian Dalcourt was the third-team center during drills.

— Deonte Brown was the first-team right guard followed by Emil Ekiyor Jr. and Kendall Randolph. Evan Neal was first up at left guard followed by Matt Womack and Pierce Quick.

— Jared Mayden had a brace on his left knee, while Shyheim Carter had one on his right knee. Both defensive backs were participating in drills.

— Alabama worked out of the nickel formation with Trevon Diggs and Patrick Surtain II as the cornerbacks and Carter at Star. Xavier McKinney and Jared Mayden were the safeties, while Shane Lee and Christian Harris were the inside linebackers. Josh Jobe shadowed Diggs later in the period.

— Earlier this week, Xavier McKinney explained what goes on when younger players shadow starters.

“I try to help as much as I can with the freshmen, or whoever's behind me, whoever my backup is. If I have to go down or something like that, I don’t want it to be any drop-off, I want it to be like I never left the game. I try to help them as much as possible and make sure they know everything they have to do when they get in.”

— Anfernee Jennings and Terrell Lewis both participated in drills with the outside linebackers after being limited on Monday.

— Miller Forristall led the tight ends followed by Major Tennison, Jahleel Billingsley, Cameron Latu and Giles Amos. I did not see Amos catch passes from the quarterbacks.
