Football Recruiting Notebook: Alabama continues to place a priority on Texas in recruiting

It’s recruiting season, so the Tide Illustrated staff is on the road seeing talent in person.

Spring football is coming to a close in Texas and just like us, the Alabama staff continues to keep the LoneStar state as a focus.

MORE on what’s going on here:

Alabama climbs to 10 in RPI

With the double header win yesterday, Alabama climbs to 10 in the Warren Nolan College Baseball RPI. Before the sweep of Ole Miss, Alabama was still projected as having to travel, but we are probably close on hosting A sub regional.

The main factor against Bama is that there are seven SEC teams in the top ten and eight in the top Sixteen. The SEC has earned the host roles; however, it is a long shot that the committee would give one conference that many host slots.

If RPI was the sole criteria for getting in the tournament, the SEC would be headed to getting in 13 teams, with only the defending champion, Ole Miss, out. I think we get 10 in The field, maybe eleven.

The goat next door

I’ve just begun to like basketball. Yes, I’m here because of the success Alabama Basketball has had the last 3 years. I admit that if Alabama Basketball become mediocre I will loose interest. So, If you are hard core basketball then you can stop reading my opinion at this point.
It’s no doubt that Nate Oats has brought excitement to the program. He has some core beliefs on how the game should be played. Let’s dive into what separates Nick Saban & Coach Bryant to make both the goats of their time. Both were able to change, evolve with the game. Both brought in assistance coaches with different ideals. I hope this young coach isn’t so stuck on percentages that he will continue to not allow his players to shoot a mid-range for example. Playing top teams in the non conference season will expose him to different ideals. I just hope he is open enough to learn and like the goat next door, evolve.

According to sources close to Rogers, he could be close to narrowing things down. An announcement could come very soon, along with a commitment following not too far after.

Rogers has a strong relationship with the Bama staff prior to him transferring to IMG. Alabama already has several in the boat for the ‘25 class and adding Rogers would only add to the momentum.

Keep a close a close eye on Rogers as we head into busy season.
