A scholarship proposal for Olympic sports

We might forget about getting the lottery in Alabama!!!
My proposal ( that will probably never happen) is in each sport ( baseball, softball, gymnastics, track and field, etc) see how many players are getting financial help in each sport.
Example BAMA gets 11.8 then look at the power five baseball programs and see how much financial money they have. Say the average is say15 or 16. Then non-lottery states can offer the same amount of scholarships!
This does not hurt the lottery states and the non- lottery states do not have to match the lottery states if they choose not to. But this could even out the playing field for the Olympics sports!
I don’t think this will ever happen but imo it seems like a semi logical solution.
ROLL TIDE ROLL!

He was probably going to be fired at the end of the season anyway. This should make that decision just a formality.

“We are pleased to be able to announce these game dates today,” said Bill Hancock, Executive Director of the College Football Playoff. “We appreciate the efforts of all the parties involved in finalizing this schedule. This is the next significant step in bringing clarity to the launch of the 12-team playoff format in 2024. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, but this is an important milestone along the way.”

On September 2, 2022, the CFP Board of Managers originally voted to expand the current four-team playoff into a 12-team playoff beginning with the 2026 season. Following additional discussions, it was then announced on December 1, 2022, that the expanded playoff format would begin with the 2024 season.

The field of 12 teams will be comprised of the six conference champions ranked highest by the selection committee (no minimum ranking requirement), plus the six highest-ranked other teams. The ranking of the teams will continue to be done by a selection committee whose size, composition, and method of selection will remain substantially unchanged from the current arrangement. The four highest-ranked conference champions will be seeded one through four and each will receive a first-round bye. The other eight teams will play in the first round with the higher seeds hosting the lower seeds either on campus or at other sites designated by the higher-seeded institution.

Football Recruiting Alabama staff on the road 5/9 - Updating

The Alabama staff is getting after it on the recruiting trail. The Tide has extended a few offers today, and it's likely that a few more could go out before the week's end. With the NFL Draft tomorrow night and the Crimson Tide having the opportunity to potentially have the first two players go off the board from last year's team, it could provide another great selling point headed into the summer. Not that Alabama needs any help in that regard.

With Alabama hauling in five recruits during the month of April, there's a chance that May has even more names come off the board in two different classes. More on that later.

It will be interesting to see how this '24 class comes together in the coming months with the influence of several new people on staff. It will all go through Saban, but you can already tell that this is shaping up to be a diverse class.

Here are updates on where the staff has been:

Dallas Skyline (Texas)

Bo Barnes was offered earlier today. Barnes was a standout prospect at the Under Armour camp this year and already held offers from Notre Dame, Missouri, Oklahoma State, and others.

Desoto HS (Texas)

Riden was the MVP of the Texas State Championship game with three touchdowns on a team loaded with D1 talent, including current Texas WR Johntay Cook. Oregon has been a constant in his recruitment.

Terry Bussey released his top 11 today with a list including Auburn, Texas, Florida, TCU, Oregon, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Tennessee, LSU and Alabama.

Bussey just visited Alabama, here are the details from his visit here ⬇️

GameDay Camp Series - Weekend Standouts

This past weekend several notable recruits from California, Texas, and New Jersey all showed up to Savannah, GA, to display their talents.

The event “Gameday Camp Series” was hosted by Roc CarMichael, an NFL great and Coach Glover, known for finding helping talented players find homes.

Glover stated, “Great camps are comprised of great coaching, great talent, and great exposure.”

With that said, here are several standouts from the camp & several notable players worthy of mention…

Gus Ritchey ‘25

The 6’3”, 235lb athlete showed up in Savannah, GA, with every intention of competing on both sides of the ball. Ritchey took snaps on the defensive side going up against Jaylen Gilchrist, a top 100 25’ OT from Virginia Beach.

He then turned his sights toward the offensive side of the ball, scoring several TD’s in 1 on 1’s. Ritchey has generated attention from several big-time programs, including Michigan, UNC, Miami, Penn State, Texas A&M, Colorado, Ole Miss, NC State, Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Duke, and others. Ritchey is currently ranked as a four-star, No. 102 overall player, and No. 8 strongside defensive end in the 2025 recruiting class.

Jaylen Gilchrist ‘25

Gilchrist absolutely dominated on the offensive line. The top 100 offensive tackle out of Virginia Beach, Virginia, put on a show. He demonstrated quick twitch, bend, explosiveness, grit, and FBIQ to the point of even helping to coach up other offensive linemen. Jaylen has 20 plus Power 5 offers from programs like Georgia, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, USC, UNC, Florida State, Penn State, Tennessee, and others.

Caleb Bowers ‘24

The 6’4” 205-pounder put on a clinic in 1-on-1s. Bowers mirrored every speed back, matching them step for step. Bowers is long, twitchy, explosive, and FAST. Bowers post 11.1 100M track time on an automatic clock. His speed and blanket coverage skills helped him to walk away with the LB MVP. Bowers even picked up an offer from Buffalo during the camp and another from Campbell after the camp. Look for his recruiting to explode this summer.

Napoleon Ellison ‘24

The QB room on Saturday was the weakest of all the positions; However, that did not stop Ellison from performing at a high level and walking away with the QB MVP. Ellison was accurate and strong throughout the day, considering the room was low on numbers. Ellison made throw after throw and demonstrated good decision-making during the 7 on 7 portions of the camp.

Paden White ‘24

White took home the Co-MVP with a stud performance. White is an every-down back who can get you consistent short yards and then pop an 80-yard run unexpectedly. He is an out-of-the-backfield mismatch for backers and nickels. White Just picked up a Buffalo offer during the camp. We should see his recruiting heat up over the summer.

Amontrae Bradford ‘24

Watching Bradford go through registration was an event within itself. At 6’5” 235 lbs, he looked as if he was already playing in the national football league. What was even more impressive is when he took part in the 1on1 session, Bradford’s first step and power was absolutely mind-blowing. He quickly and repeatedly beat offensive linemen with his speed and power. Bradford is currently a 3-star prospect; however, I expect his stock and star power to rise this summer quickly. Bradford has offers from Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Indiana, and several others.

Bradford's teammate Kam Mikel holds an offer from Alabama; Bradford may camp with Alabama, potentially generating interest himself.

Fonzy Smith ‘25

Excellent body and control and tracks the ball well in the air. He’s a two-sport athlete who also plays baseball. It shows his hand-eye coordination. High points of the ball well very elusive for him. He has a very high ceiling with plenty of room to fill out his 6’2” frame, with him only being a sophomore. Smith has an offer from UNC

Honorable Mentions

Nori Moore ‘24

Excellent footwork, plays with a low center of gravity, thick lower body, and very shifty with the ability to make defenders miss in the open field. Catches the ball well out of the backfield. If he continues to develop, he could become an every-down back.

1st Team 3A All-State RB

Jayden Acevedo ‘24

Jayden was undersized, but for what he lacked in size, he made up in speed, explosion, and power. He demonstrated strength and power during the 1-on-1 portion of the camp.

Jaiden Daniels ‘25

Daniels may be 5’9” 170lbs; however, he is dynamic and explosive. Daniels walked away with a Co-MVP award. He consistently made play after play, including a jaw-dropping catch where he looked like he jump 50 inches over the DB. Daniels has 1 FCS offer. We should see his recruiting heat up this summer.

Josiah Victor ‘25

Victor is going to be special. He displayed supreme athleticism during skills and drills and 1-on-1s. Look for Victor’s stock to rise after this season.

He doesn’t have much film but he’s one to watch.
