Biggest Bama Vulnerability This Saturday - Deep Ball

I know that it has been mentioned in small segments of other threads over the last few weeks, but no thread has been dedicated for discussion of Bama's deep ball vulnerability. But we allowed four wide open deep receivers against USF and two against Wisconsin, all of which if accurately thrown would have translated to TD's. UGA's QB is highly likely to connect on these in stride for TD's. Freshman Red Morgan has been out of place a couple of times and was also beaten on one. Mbakwe was beaten on another. These are TD's against any accurate QB, and I hope the staff has pulled out all stops to keep this from happening. This could be a big factor in the game.

NIL Promises Not Panning Out?

I was watching a college football podcast and they were talking about the UNLV QB Sluka NIL situation. I think every reasonable person believes guidelines are needed to protect everyone involved - players, coaches, staffs, universities, etc. - to avoid situations like this, so let’s not debate the merits of NIL. The part I found interesting was that the hosts said they’ve heard there are a lot of these situations happening, even with playoff caliber teams. They said some players are not getting what they were promised and that there are several who are currently listed as injured who aren’t really that injured. In addition to the QB position, they mentioned WR, DL and OL. I was trying to guess what teams and players they could be talking about. Any ideas?

Georgia Gameplan

How involved is Saban on the prep for Georgia? I know he won’t be in the building daily or something stupid. But he’s beat Kirby and given Georgia problems when nobody thought he had a chance and nobody else could keep up with Georgia. He obviously knows their defense as well as anyone. I’m sure he knows Bobo and their offense as well as anyone too.
Do you think Saban helped with this plan in the offseason or he will help from a distance now? This game gives either team a foot in the door for the playoffs and it would be an huge win for DeBoer.

Hoops 🏀 Alabama basketball practice observations

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama basketball just wrapped its first open practice of the season. The media got to watch the final 15 minutes.

As obvious as might seem, Clifford Omoruyi is the real deal. He caught a lob from Aden Holloway and had a reverse dunk when the team scrimmaged. He also looked sharp as a connector, executing a handoff with Latrell Wrightsell Jr. who drained a 3.

Lineups during the scrimmage:

Grey: Aden Holloway, Latrell Wrightsell Jr., Grant Nelson, Jarin Stevenson, Clifford Omoruyi

Red: Mark Sears, Labaron Philon, Houston Mallette, Mo Dioubate, Aiden Sherrell

Felt like the Grey team lineup was crafted to be a bit bigger/forward-heavy — Nelson, Stevenson Omoruyi and the red team was more guard-heavy — Sears, Philon, Mallette and Dioubate as a smaller four-man.

Grey won the scrimmage 79-77 after a buzzer-beater from Grant Nelson.

Hoops Recruiting Note on Meleek Thomas

Five-star SG Meleek Thomas may not make it to Tuscaloosa this weekend due to the weather (traveling from Atlanta). Will continue to monitor and if he is unable to head to Tuscaloosa this weekend he'll likely reschedule another visit.

Fellow five stars A.J. Dybantsa and Brayden Burries are both expected this weekend.

Georgia-Alabama game to be postponed and rescheduled.

There are multiple problems hindering the Georgia-Alabama game.

1. The airport in Athens is under water.

2. The dirt road between Athens and Atlanta is washed out.

3. The Georgia Players have not been able to meet with their probation officers to get permission to travel out of State.

There is no word on when the game will be played.
