A young man would have to be crazy not to sign with Alabama

A player coming out of High School would have to be crazy not to sign with Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan or Clemson.

If a young man signs with one of the big five schools, can break into playing time or even start, after two years he can earn millions in the Portal from most other schools and then decide if he wants to take a pay cut and move on to the NFL We better get use to the idea that the program will be pillaged each year. Exactly how much do you think a sophomore starter at Alabama can get for a transfer to any other school? It would surpass the $970,000 minimum NFL salary.

Tony Franklin

He was just in Finebum talking Leach. He was pretty honest. Said he wasn’t pretending to be friends with Leach and had not talked to him in 20 years. He said they didn’t see eye to eye on some things or something like that. He actually pretty much said he felt bad for Mumme bc Leach is getting the credit for some thing Mumme did. He mentioned he wasn’t friends with Mumme either. Didn’t seem to care for Tubberville either but I can understand some of that. Anybody know the deal with Franklin and Leach or Franklin and Mumme?
Surely it wasn’t just some political crap.

Good morning.

Tennessee has made a big push here, and are in-front per my sources as of late last night.

There is still a chance for Alabama’s push to put them back in-front, but as of late last night this one was trending towards the in-state school.

The poster who mentioned about the time spent with Tennessee’s head coach is correct. The Vols are all in on this one.

I’m not quite sure where Alabama turns at this position so close to signing day if they do in-fact miss on Carter, which makes me think a last second push this morning is quite possible.

Projected eligibility chart for next season (rough draft)

I'm posting this for fun to provide a look at where Alabama could be standing once the dust settles this offseason. Below are a couple of notes about how the chart was put together.

— Players are listed by what year they will be next year. If a player has played in four games or fewer this season, I made him a redshirt. Obviously, that could change depending on how the bowl game plays out.

— Players who entered the portal were removed.

— Players who were included in Senior Day were removed.

— Players who have been mentioned as possible first- or second-round picks in next year's NFL draft were removed.

— The list includes incoming freshmen and will grow with incoming recruits.

— Y'all, this is supposed to be fun. It isn't exact. I don't know for sure if players like Darrian Dalcourt or Malachi Moore will return for example. This is my best guess at the moment.

With all that said, by my count, Alabama is sitting at 84 scholarship players based on my above guidelines. More players will leave and more players will come in. This is just a look at where things might stand... at least by my projection.

Floor seats behind Bama bench

We sat behind the Bama bench tonight. It was really cool. We could have reached out and touched Miller and Byrne at different times. Just a lot important people right there all around us. But once the game started, not so much. We had no choice but watch the opposite end of the court on the screen. And my kid had to watch the entire game on the screen he could stand up the whole time and not see the court. The Bama managers and analyst or whoever they were stood the whole time. And some dude that’s a trainer or something stood in front of us too at times randomly.
I thought it might be difficult to see when the players were standing and excited and all. Never expected that 2nd row to just stand the entire time. 1st world problems but it was frustrating because we really went to watch the actual game.

Thoughts on Alabama's 91-88 Win Over Memphis

Alabama gutted out a hard fought victory over a very good Memphis team last night. It was a game where neither team could take control and it was a tug and pull match most of the game. In the second half, Alabama led for most of it and ended up hitting crucial free throws to pull out a 3 point win. Kendric Davis is arguably the best player in the country and he showed that last night. Alabama missed Burnett's lockdown defense, but overall I thought Bradley played solid defense on him. Davis just hit some really difficult shots at time.

I was very impressed with Alabama last night. It would've been very easy to be satisfied with the win over Houston on Saturday and take the night off, but they fought hard to get another quality win. You could tell they looked tired and like they were sleepwalking the first half, but the second half they really kicked it into gear. They shot 48% from the field, 37% from 3, and 72% from the line which are all very good percentages. The turnovers killed Alabama for a lot of the game, mainly the first half, but to score 91 points on 54 shots is very impressive.

The minute rotation I thought was very solid last night. Nine players logged 10+ minutes and they all contributed in different ways. Brandon Miller broke out of his min slump scoring 24 points after scoring 24 combined the past two games on 4/29 shooting. He is something special when he gets going. Mark Sears has become that second scorer behind Miller on a nightly basis scoring 18 points. The two guys I'm continually impressed with are Jaden Bradley and Noah Clowney. They play so hard and do so many things that translate to winning that they're the X factors for the team. Bradley is being asked to guard their best player and run the offense for 20+ minutes and finished with a positive +/-. Clowney is a swiss army knife where he defends, rebounds, blocks shots, hits threes, and can finish around the rim. He affects the game in ways Herb Jones used to.

Alabama now has one more big test before they begin conference play in Gonzaga on Saturday. Expect another dogfight and tug of war battle.
