Alabama took part in its 16th preseason practice Tuesday as players wore full pads and worked under partly cloudy, 92-degree weather. Here are some notes from the media viewing session.
— Christian Harris was limited for a second straight day and did not participate in drills with the rest of the inside linebackers. The freshman wore a brace on his left knee.
— Outside linebacker Anfernee Jennings was also limited for a second straight day and stood to the side while the unit went through drills.
— Freshman defensive lineman Antonio Alfano was absent during the viewing period.
— Alabama’s defense worked out of its base package. Trevon Diggs and Patrick Surtain II were the cornerbacks while Jared Mayden and Xavier McKinney played the two safety positions. Dylan Moses and Shane Lee were the inside linebackers while Christopher Allen and Terrell Lewis were the outside linebackers.
— The second unit out of the base defense featured Scooby Carter and Marcus Banks as the cornerbacks. Jordan Battle shadowed Shyheim Carter at one safety position, while Daniel Wright played the other. Jaylen Moody and Markail Benton were the two inside linebackers, while King Mwikuta and Kevin Harris II were the outside linebackers. Ben Davis subbed in for Harris during the second rep.
— Alabama’s offensive line was working on drills with the centers and guards when I was watching. Landon Dickerson appears to be the first-team option at center with Evan Neal at left guard and Emil Ekiyor Jr. at right guard. Chris Owens was the second-team center with Deonte Brown to his left and Matt Womack to his right.
— D.J. Dale was going through reps with a brace on his left knee. Alabama is still taking things slow with him, but he looks to be moving well.
— For a second straight day, Trey Sanders was seen on a stationary bike inside of Alabama’s weight room.
— Former Alabama defensive lineman Marcell Dareus was at practice.
