Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Making shots in a stupid shooting drill is a lot different than playing in games.Yeah, he broke every shooting record alabama had this summer. But yeah, keep it up. Every practice I saw he was the best player on the court. This is what happens when your pg is from a tiny alabama school. Look at these passes. Oats must literally say hand the ball to the other team right? Or miss every open layup taken right? You can't recruit the south and win. And by south I mean AL, GA, and MS. Luckily we have some guys coming in next year from TN, FL, and SC.
Are you at practices? Because I've never seen a practice Rojas has dominated like you said. This game resulted from a few things. 1) #5 averages 8 ppg and hes got about 30 2) JQ is continually our best player deep down the line in close games. Makes a massive difference because now our best guard hands the ball of better than tom brady, his are just to the other team. This is what happens when you try to keep "good kids" from in state. In the state of alabama high school basketball is taught very different. Very low level IQ coaching. from MS to GA. It shows with most "top recruits" from these states.Nothing like summer shooting records with nobody guarding you to make you the best player on the team.
Have you watched Alabama play defense? I bet we have a lot of guys that score a lot against each other.
Avery recruited shack tooBlah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Making shots in a stupid shooting drill is a lot different than playing in games.
JD was a 5 star, coach him and the other players up better. Come up with a better offense than this shit where they all stand around looking to throw up 3s. Coach them to their strengths, not some analysis bullshit.
It funny how it was on the previous coach for not developing players but it’s not Oats fault that his players hasn’t gotten better. Shit if it wasn’t for the previous coach players, last year would have ended up in the NIT…
When it was time to finish this season, botton line is this team just does not have it.They gotta shoot it first. Ellis has given up several shots only to dribble into the paint resulting in no points. Shack just hit a 3 after a long hiatus.
The fish heads just eat our Oates.I just hope both teams have fun
Can’t wait for all the excuses of how it was not Oats fault at all.I’m afraid our coach is over his head. This was a bad team. Really bad basketball the second half of the year. Turnovers. Shitty D. Shitty substitution rotation. Shitty game management. At least Rojas got his minutes
Avery never got to coach him, willing to bet if he did his shot selection would be better and he would play better defense. Herb and Petty was by far the toughest players on the team last year.Avery recruited shack too
JD was a 5* in the state of alabama for basketball. JD has actually got better through the year. He literally just sucks because of where hes from and the lack of knowledge from coaching throughout the state of alabama. Can't see the floor to save his life. JD will have to play years in the Gleague if he leaves or develop here.Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Making shots in a stupid shooting drill is a lot different than playing in games.

Horrible product. No sugar coating it. We were not going to win this game even if JQ did not get hurt. They just weren’t.Just not that good of a team. We had our times but we have a 6’8” guy playing the 5 right now that literally can’t get off the floor when he tries to jump
Avery couldnt coach to save his life. He just liked to talk about it. Never reached the sweet 16. or back to back tournamentsCan’t wait for all the excuses of how it was not Oats fault at all.
Avery never got to coach him, willing to bet if he did his shot selection would be better and he would play better defense. Herb and Petty was by far the toughest players on the team last year.
Keep Oats, he needs a reality check that his shit don’t stink. He needs to learn for coaches like Coach K instead of making arrogant remarks about on of the best ever to do it.The fish heads just eat our Oates.
Maybe we will get a good coach before the new facility is completed.
Probably? You serious Clark?Prolly my least favorite team I’ve watched at bama.
I actually think they could have easily won it. Its a much slower pace with JD. And you can't count on him to completely suck if hes the go to. JQ is edgy and the best down the line for us in close games.Horrible product. No sugar coating it. We were not going to win this game even if JQ did not get hurt. They just weren’t.
I'd keep him for sure. Dude just went to the sweet16 and back to back tournaments lmao.Keep Oats, he needs a reality check that his shit don’t stink. He needs to learn for coaches like Coach K instead of making arrogant remarks about on of the best ever to do it.
Man i thought John Petty was a streaky shooter at best! But boy we could have used him on this team!🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
And rebounded.He also played defense

What are you talking about? Think everyone on here agrees we had to have an impressive combination of bad play and bad coaching to achieve this kind of collapse. I do know that Bray didn't coach 29 points out of Ryan today. Pretty sure he just delivered, and we don't do that anymore. Can’t wait for all the excuses of how it was not Oats fault at all.
Avery never got to coach him, willing to bet if he did his shot selection would be better and he would play better defense. Herb and Petty was by far the toughest players on the team last year.
Make or break? Back to back tournaments. Just coming off a sweet 16....You high?Next year is a make or break year for Oats. Not from a win/loss perspective but from general effort, toughness, hustle and making smart decisions with the ball.
dude averaged 8 points a game haha. Bray probably just clapped and happy he did it.What are you even talking about? Think everyone on here agrees we had to havean impressive combination of bad play and bad coaching to achieve this kind of collapse. I do know that Bray didn't coach 29 points out of Ryan today. JD is ready for the NBA.I actually think they could have easily won it. Its a much slower pace with JD. And you can't count on him to completely suck if hes the go to. JQ is edgy and the best down the line for us in close games.
Keep thinking it. I remember all the hype about Rojas at practice. Maybe these guys play well at practice bc our defense is guarding them. Bottom line, Oats can only coach if he has the players to fit his system. He can’t adjust and make things work with any other types of players. Are you at practices? Because I've never seen a practice Rojas has dominated like you said. Why are you leaving out burnett?Shack 4 for 17.....sheesh (and Miles was 2 for 7)
Meanwhile Ryan for ND, averaging 8ppg, scores 29 on 12 shots, and ND shoots over 60% from 3pt as a team.
CNO has to find some guards, so I sure hope Bradley, Griffen, and Miller come ready to play, but CNO really needs to scour the transfers and find some options.
But has nothing to do with how bad they play D. It is historically bad at every level.I actually think they could have easily won it. Its a much slower pace with JD. And you can't count on him to completely suck if hes the go to. JQ is edgy and the best down the line for us in close games.
I dont think it. I literally see it. Every practice. Oats just went to the sweet 16 and back to back tournament appearances. Just won the sec reg season and tournament. yep people bashing him like crazy is truly funny.Keep thinking it. I remember all the hype about Rojas at practice. Maybe these guys play well at practice bc our defense is guarding them. Bottom line, Oats can only coach if he has the players to fit his system. We don’t have a half court offense. And we have nothing to fall back on defensively to break teams rhythms and such.
After the first couple, a coach who is willing to adjust would have ran him off of that handoff. His defender got hit with the screener on the handoff and our big was playing drop. But no need to adjust.dude averaged 8 points a game haha. Bray probably just clapped and happy he did it.
Maybe so. But when jq is on the floor the offense is definitely more in sync. But has nothing to do with how bad they play D. It is historically bad at every level.

Did you not watch the game? He could have been getting touched by their team priest while chucking up a 3 and still would have made every shot. Didnt matter when he was smothered. Sometimes players just have those games. After the first couple, a coach who is willing to adjust would have ran him off of that handoff. His defender got hit with the screener on the handoff and our big was playing drop. But no need to adjust.
I'm not saying he should or will be fired after next season but he cannot field another team next season with this much talent only to watch them play so poorly for 2 months straight. If the team plays like this next season then he should be on the hot seat going into the '23-'24 season. Sorry, Oats makes way too much money to field a team that poorly prepared and coached.Make or break? Back to back tournaments. Just coming off a sweet 16....You high?
Right now he's the Gus Malzahn of CBB. Last year might have been a little bit of smoke and mirrors with teams having limited practice time due to COVID.I'd keep him for sure. Dude just went to the sweet16 and back to back tournaments lmao.
Hes avoiding everything i've said about JD. He needs to hit the portal and go play for the peacocks or go gleague for years.not defending oats at all, but can’t wait for you candy ass excuse about JD. Good riddance to him. Sorry as all get out.
He went to the sweet 16. He lost the core of that group. We were all happy. But this group couldn’t play the same way and Oats did not adjust. If you think he got everything he could have out of this group, we will never agree. He may have got everything out of them playing his system. But without a doubt, he could have got more out of them by adjusting things.I dont think it. I literally see it. Every practice. Oats just went to the sweet 16 and back to back tournament appearances. Just won the sec reg season and tournament. yep people bashing him like crazy is truly funny.
Does not matter. This product sucks from here to the moon. Oats won last year with a senior laden team be did not recruit. Other teams have basketball players/ not sure what the hell we have in Tuscaloosa.Make or break? Back to back tournaments. Just coming off a sweet 16....You high?
