TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama continued its fall camp on Monday as players worked in shorts and shells under sunny 94-degree weather. Here are some notes from the media viewing period of the workout.
— Tight end Jahleel Billingsley was back at practice after not participating in the Tide’s first workouts of camp. Nick Saban spoke about the junior Sunday, commenting on his level of commitment.
“He can be a positive contributor on the team,” Saban said. “But he’s also got to buy into the principles and values of the team and be a good teammate. Do the things that everyone else in the organization does so that he has the respect of his teammates. We’re certainly trying to help him do that and hopefully he’ll be back out there with us in a few days. We’ll see how that all develops.”
— Alabama’s first receiver group consisted of John Metchie III and Javon Baker on the two outside positions while Slade Bolden manned the slot. Metchie was followed by Jameson Williams Ja’Corey Brooks. Baker was followed by Traeshon Holden and Agiye Hall. Bolden was followed by Thaiu Jones-Bell, Christian Leary and JoJo Earle.
— Xavier Williams is still missing from action despite not being listed in the NCAA transfer portal
— LaBryan Ray was once again absent from drills. Sunday, Saban said that the redshirt senior is dealing with a significant groin injury. Redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Braylan Ingraham was also missing from the workout.
— Alabama’s offensive line worked in groups of three. It was difficult to make out all the groupings, but it appears as though the Tide’s first unit at the moment consists of Evan Neal, Javion Cohen, Chris Owens, Emil Ekiyor, and Kendall Randolph from left to right.
— I was able to see that Darrian Dalcourt, Tanner Bowles and JC Latham were the second group to go on the right side.
— Alabama's secondary worked out of the dime unit in team drills. The first-team unit consisted of Josh Jobe and Jalyn Armour-Davis at cornerbacks, Jordan Battle and DeMarcco Hellams at safeties, Malachi Moore at Star and Brian Branch at Money.
— Christian Harris once again led the inside linebackers. Unlike the Tide’s first practice, Henry To’o To’o was second in line. He was followed by Shane Lee, Jaylen Moody, Deonte Lawson, Jackson Bratton, Ian Jackson, Demouy Kennedy, Kendrick Blackshire, Kyle Flood Jr. (walk-on) and Jordan Smith (walk-on).
— We got our first outburst from outside linebackers coach Sal Sunseri as he tore into Will Anderson Jr. during a drill. Anderson led the unit and was followed by Chris Allen, Drew Sanders, King Mwikuta, Quandarrius Robinson, Dallas Turner Chris Braswell and Keanu Koht.
