Here are some quick notes from Alabama's brief practice viewing period Thursday.
— Former Southern California cornerback Domani Jackson was watching practice as a spectator. Jackson, a former five-star recruit, entered his name in the transfer portal, and Alabama is considered a contender for his commitment. The Crimson Tide is likely losing its two starting cornerbacks, Kool-Aid McKinstry and Terrion Arnold, to the NFL draft this offseason.
— Five-star early enrolee Julian Sayin was working with the rest of the quarterbacks. He is wearing No. 7. All of Alabama's quarterbacks were at practice, but I did not see Tyler Buchner or Eli Holstein go through drills when I was watching them. The order I saw was Jalen Milroe, Ty Simpson, Dylan Lonergan and Julian Sayin.
— Jase McClellan (foot) was at practice and going through drills. He appears to be good to go for Monday's Rose Bowl. McClellan spoke to our own Kelly Quinlan earlier in the day about how is foot is feeling.
"I feel great with this time off we had to get ready and get some time under me," McClellan said. "I just needed to get back and get ready and I feel great."
— Kool-Aid McKinstry (concussion) was still in a padded practice helmet as he has been since bowl preparation began.
— Elijah Pritchett, who was arrested last week for knowingly spreading a sexually-transmitted disease, was also at practice. Nick Saban said Wednesday that Pritchett's status on the team has not changed since his arrest.
— Other than the quarterbacks, I did not see any players in black jerseys.
— Newly-hired assistant George Helow was helping coach the defense. Helow most recently served as Michigan's linebackers coach from 2021-22.
— The team practiced at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The training facility is typically used by the Major League Soccer team the LA Galaxy.
