TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama participated in its final preseason practice Saturday before beginning game-week preparations for its season-opener against Duke on Aug. 31. Players were dressed in full pads and worked indoors to escape damp conditions. Here are some notes from the media viewing period.
— Freshman defensive lineman Justin Eboigbe was absent from the viewing period. Redshirt freshman defensive lineman Stephon Wynn (ankle) was also missing but was seen walking into the weight room in a black jersey before practice.
— Alabama’s first unit on the offensive line remained the same as it was Friday with Alex Leatherwood, Evan Neal, Chris Owens, Landon Dickerson and Jedrick Wills Jr. lining up from left to right.
— The second unit consisted of Scott Lashley, Pierce Quick, Emil Ekiyor Jr., Matt Womack and Tommy Brown. The third unit was made up of Tanner Bowles, Rowdy Garza, Darrian Dalcourt, Jackson Roby and Amari Kight.
— Womack replaced Dickerson at right guard for a rep at the end of the viewing period.
— Alabama’s defense practiced out of the dime unit. The first-team unit appeared to consist of Anfernee Jennings, Raekwon Davis, LaBryan Ray and Terrell Lewis on the line with Dylan Moses serving as the lone linebacker. Trevon Diggs and Josh Jobe were the outside corners, while Patrick Surtain II played Star and Xavier McKinney played Money. Shyheim Carter and Jared Mayden were the two safeties.
— The second-team dime unit had Ben Davis, Phidarian Mathis, Byron Young and Christopher Allen on the line with Shane Lee at the lone linebacker role Marcus Banks played one cornerback position while Jalyn Armour-Davis was shadowed by Scooby Carter at the other. Shyheim Carter played at Star, while DeMarcco Hellams played at Money. The two safeties were Jordan Battle and Daniel Wright.
